Stars: Adam Sandler, Kevin Garnett
Adam Sandler playing a serious role? That’s downright shocking.
Uncut Gems caught a lot of people by surprise as Sandler played a non-comedic role and knocked it out of the park. He starred in a drama/thriller, playing a successful gems dealer in New York named Howard Ratner. Ratner’s intense gambling addiction has cost him his family, his career and thousands of dollars in debt. However, he believes that he finally hit the jackpot after stumbling upon an uncut rock with gems. He then searches for an interested buyer that would ensure him a big payout, but as he gets closer to finally getting his wish, he starts to realize that he can’t run away from all of his problems.
Many people felt Sandler should have at least been nominated for an Oscar, although he was snubbed. For what it’s worth, NBA legend Kevin Garnett also does a fantastic job here.
