New Game of the Week: Sherlock of London

There is nothing like a good mystery. And there are few sleuths like Sherlock Holmes and trusty sidekick Watson, bringing order to the streets of London. Microgaming brings all of this together in the new Sherlock of London online slot game, courtesy of its development deal with Rabcat.

Complete with features and bonuses, Sherlock of London plays to old and young fans of the books and movies alike. And when the investigation consists of finding spins for wins, every online slot player wants the help of a legend like Sherlock Holmes.

The game’s developer, Rabcat, was pleased with the outcome of this slot. CEO Thomas Schleischitz said: “Our team has had a brilliant time pulling together the murky, fog-filled world of criminal rogues and sleuthing geniuses, and we are confident that players will have as much fun exploring the game as we’ve had creating it.”

About Sherlock of London

With five reels and three rows of slot symbols, Sherlock of London offers 25 paylines. The RTP (return-to-player) is 96.03%, making it a medium variance slot game.

Before the slots even spin, the story begins with Sherlock Holmes and Watson chasing the animated criminals down the stone streets of old London. The graphics are clear and entertaining throughout the introduction and behind the reels as they spin. From Big Ben to glowing streetlamps, players are given the feel of being in the middle of a classic mystery.

The music is right out of a television show or mystery film classic, with a soundtrack that keeps pace with the spins and the action of all features.

Players can start at a stake of $0.01, and for 25 paylines, that puts the minimum bet at $0.25. Increases can then put the stake at $0.02, $0.05, $0.10, $0.20, $0.25, $0.50, $1.00, and $2.00. That max bet is then equal to $50.00 per spin.

The symbols offer a wide range of payouts, included the following listed here for five symbols next to each other on a payline:

  • Sherlock wild and Watson extra wild: $100
  • 221B Baker Street sign: $100
  • Inspector Lestrade: $50
  • Irene Adlers: $25
  • Moriarty: $20
  • Watson: $12.50
  • Ace: $10
  • King: $8
  • Queen: $6
  • Jack: $4
  • Ten: $2.50

Other features of the game include the ability to mute the sounds, add keyboard shortcuts, add additional animation, and speed up the spins.

How to Play This Detective Themed Slot

It may take a few seconds for the game to load, but the animations and detail are worth the wait. Then, spin away!

Wild symbols will come up often, and the Sherlock wild will replace any symbol except the Free Spins Scatter. If more than one wild appears on a reel, they will connect (thusly called the Connecting Wilds feature), and any other symbols on that line will also turn wild.

If there are exactly two wilds on the reels in adjacent columns and in the same row, they will merge and activate the Double Win feature. This then doubles all line wins.

By finding one wild symbol on the first or second reel, this puts the player into the Bonus Spin feature, during which the wild symbols remains fixed. Another wild symbol on the Bonus Spin may trigger the Connecting Wilds or Double Win feature.

Players will also want to see the Free Spins Scatter symbol. Three or more of those garners a bonus round containing 10 free spins. Watson symbols become Extra Wild during free spins and can replace any other symbol. It will not trigger the above-mentioned wild features, though. However, the Connecting Wilds and Double Win are available when the Watson Extra Wild is not involved.

During the free spins, the Expanding Wild is possible if one wild appears on a reel. It immediately expands to cover the entire reel.

Also, more bonus spins can be triggered during the bonus spins round.

Where to Play Sherlock of London

The game is full of wilds and features that include the wilds. While there may be some variance, the different wild actions and overall fun factor make up for it.

As Microgaming Director of Global Operations noted: “Sherlock of London provides a slot experience with wild features that heighten the action in both the base game and free spins. The mysterious atmosphere and thrilling adventures are well represented here, with excellent artwork and an evocative soundtrack.
