Why Online Casinos are Better than Land-Based

There was a time when the difference in experience between an online casino and a land-based gaming venue were vastly different. Land-based outpaced online, as many felt that feeling couldn’t be recreated. Fast forward a couple of decades, and now online casinos are not only on par with their land-based competitors, they are actually superior in many ways. Here’s a look at online casinos compare to land-based, and why online casinos are becoming a better option for many players:

  1. More Convenient

One of the main issues with land-based casinos is that most major cities didn’t want them front and center. As a result, players have long had to drive a good hour or two to get to the gaming venues, and that’s where online casinos have stepped in: they are way more convenient.

Let’s face it: when you start gaming in the casino, you don’t necessarily want to do it all in one shot. However, if you’re driving two hours to get there or making a three-day trip to Vegas, you’re more compelled to get your fill. That might mean playing way more than you need.

With online casinos, you can literally play whenever you want. Want to play slots when you have a free 30 minutes? Go for it. Want to play a few hands of blackjack before bed? Do it. Want to spend the afternoon playing all sorts of the table games and slots? It’s up to you. The difference here is that it’s accessible to you at all times, so you don’t have to “get your fill” like you would if you flew down to Vegas.

The other convenience factor is that you can play from the comfort of your own home. There’s no driving for hours or having to get dressed up or standing in line at the casino cage to exchange cash for chips. All of these are inconveniences you don’t have to deal with when you play online.

  1. Smoking Is A Non-Issue

Smoking is a non-issue when it comes to online casinos in a couple of ways. Let’s look at it from the perspective of both smokers and non-smokers.

The main complaint of non-smokers in a regular casino is that smoking is almost universally allowed. Of course, we know it’s fully allowed in Las Vegas. That being the case, if you’re a non-smoker and you want to go sit at the slots for a few hours, that means you’re committing to inhaling some second-hand smoke too. The good news is that most of the Vegas casinos on The Strip are modern and have much better ventilation than they had 20 years ago. However, if you have health concerns, that’s clearly not something you want to sign up for.

So, if you’re a non-smoker and you play online, the smoke isn’t something you ever have to think about. You can play from the comfort of your own home where you control that.

Taking a look at the flip side, if you’re a smoker, nothing changes for you. If you play at a casino, you can smoke and if you play online, you can smoke the same as you would normally. That being the case, smoking – which is a hot topic of conversation in land-based casinos – is a non-issue when it comes to the online action.

  1. More Games Are at Your Fingertips

It’s quite incredible when you start to think about how many games you have at your fingertips when you play at an online casino. Some casinos have over a thousand slots alone and with the click of a mouse, you can jump from a basic three-reel classic to something with five reels and 30 paylines. Had your fill of slots? Well, you can move to a video poker game or bingo or blackjack or several types of roulette with just a tap or a click. It’s that easy.

With land-based casinos, it takes more effort. No, we’re not trying to be lazy. Of course, it’s not that big of a deal to get up from a chair in the slots section and walk over to the craps table, but that does take some energy. The bigger issue is just finding everything. Online, you can filter games, sort them or search. The gaming floors of land-based casinos are sometimes so massive that you might find yourself walking for 10-15 minutes just to get to the game you’re looking for. When you get into the action online, you don’t have to worry about any of this.

  1. Live Dealer Games

Some people used to say that you can’t really get that Vegas casino experience online but that’s quickly changing. One of the newer innovations of online casinos is live dealer gaming. This allows you to fire up a game online and play with a real dealer elsewhere. The casino might be at a casino in Atlantic City or in Vegas or somewhere in Europe. And you can interact with them as they deal. The best part is that you can see them but they can’t see you. So, while they’re all dressed up and formal, you can be sitting in a robe and playing with them.

Live dealer games are all the rage these days. This is because online casinos are not only adding more and more versions, they’re also improving the experience. Originally, you could only play, but now you can chat and interact, and who knows what they’ll think of next? This really gives you the feeling of being in the casino without actually going.

  1. Game on The Go

One of the best parts about playing with online casinos is that you can game on the go. That’s simply not something that’s possible with a land-based casino. When you think about a traditional experience with a land-based casino, it’s a complete deviation from your daily life. Unless you live right next door, which most of us don’t, you’re really making a plan to go out there. That might mean devoting an evening to drive out there. Especially, if you’re making a weekend trip.

mobile casinos

With online casinos, they mostly all have fantastic mobile experiences. All you need is a smart device and an internet connection. In North America, the majority of people have that. That means that for most of us, you can easily get into some gaming and fit it into your day. That means everything from a lunch break, to playing while you’re sitting on the subway to unwinding with some games after dinner. It’s all available to you as long as you have some kind of modern piece of technology and a connection.
