Gateway Becomes Official NFL Partner in Canada

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment made an exciting announcement this week. The NFL may be a US-based organisation, but sports betting fans and viewers extend across North America and Canada. That popularity subsequently prompted the NFL to announce their first agreement with a land-based casino group in Canada, namely Gateway Casinos.

Official Land-Based Casino Partner

The title is one that Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited is embracing: Official National Land-Based Casino Partner of the NFL in Canada.

In addition, Gateway’s MATCH Eatery & Public House, located in every Gateway casino and property, is the exclusive presenting sponsor of the NFL Fantasy app.

Gateway Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Carrie Kormos said the company is thrilled. “We know there are millions of football fans across Canada, and to be able to offer exclusive, unique experiences to them at our properties is very exciting.”

National Football League Canada Managing Director David Thomson added: “NFL Canada is truly proud to be working with Gateway to collaborate and help accelerate its business in Canada. Like the NFL and our players, Gateway sets itself apart in the market through unparalleled teamwork and commitment to excellence, which makes our new partnership so powerful in Canada.”

What the Partnership Means

The multi-year partnership will hold many benefits for Gateway Casinos.

There will be quite a bit of promotion for the National Football League from Gateway properties, too. Gateway now has the right to officially use NFL trademarks to promote their properties and any important NFL events. This includes the player draft and Super Bowl.

According to the press release from Gateway, its properties will offer “unique NFL experiences for their customers.” They plan to use everything from interactive tools to engage customers on game days and offer exclusive promotions.

Further, there will even be opportunities for customers to meet current and former NFL players.

Activities will begin with the NFL Fantasy Draft and move through the preseason games and then the full NFL season, which will wrap with the Super Bowl in early 2020.

Tailgate Party

The first event on the Gateway Casino calendar is the official Kickoff Tailgate Party. This will take place at every Gateway property on August 22.

The game on tap for that day will be the Oakland Raiders at the Green Bay Packers.

Every property will have tailgate activities with prizes, as well as food and drink specials. Some casinos, however, will have special activities. Gateway is highlighting a special kickoff event at Simcoe Yard House at Casino Rama Resort in Ontario. Meanwhile, the Starlight Casino in New Westminster, British Columbia, will have the Vince Lombardi trophy in house for photo opportunities.

NFL Fantasy Football Draft

The popularity growth of fantasy football is not getting past the Gateway Casinos & Entertainment group, either. In fact, they also want to offer places for draft parties.

Anyone who books an NFL Fantasy Football draft party at a Gateway establishment will be registered to win a trip for 10 people to an NFL game toward the end of the season. The winner will be chosen on November 2, 2019.

NFL Pick’Em Pool

This promotion begins on September 5 and offers various prizes, including a share of $15K in cash. There will be weekly and monthly prizes, too. That’s in addition to a grand prize awarded on the day after the end of the regular football season.

Anyone can participate by simply sign up at any location. They then need to choose the team they believe will win each week’s NFL games. There will also be game day specials.

Run for the Money Kiosk Promotion

The last of the promotions announced thus far is one of the first to get underway on August 28. By simply swiping their casino card at any location every day, they will be entered to win prizes.

Instant prizes will include NFL merchandise, food and beverage deals, and bonus ballots. In addition, participants will be entered to win bi-weekly prizes by participating in an NFL-branded football tossing game at that Gateway property.

On the final day of the promotion, October 27, one final winner will be picked. They will subsequently be awarded a trip for two to Super Bowl LIV in Florida.

NFL Gears Up for Its Season

The National Football League is celebrating 100 years of football this season.

Already in Week 2 of the preseason, the NFL is preparing to kick off its regular season on Thursday, September 5. That’s when the Green Bay Packers play the Chicago Bears. On Sunday, September 8, an entire lineup of games will bring on the official season for the 32 participating teams to play through 2019.

On the first weekend of January 2020, the playoffs will begin with the Wild Card Playoff Round. The following weekend, Divisional Round games then take place. The Conference Championships will play on January 19, and the two winners will go to Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on February 2.
