New Casino Game of the Week: Champions of Rome

One of the hottest new games making its way to online casinos around Canada is Champions of Rome. Players at LeoVegas can’t get enough of it!

Developers at gaming content provider Yggdrasil only released the video slot for public consumption on February 21, 2019. So it is new, fresh, and currently the among the most popular games on the internet casino scene. It’s also available on mobile (iOS, Android, and Windows) and desktop platforms.

Champions of Rome is available in 26 languages, English and French among them.

About Champions of Rome

Imagine entering the Colosseum in Rome when the arena was full of fans and the gladiators were preparing to fight. Don’t worry; you’re simply a spectator in this game. But pretending to be the toughest of all the gladiators takes the game to the next level.

Different gladiator masks, coins, and decorated shields fill the screen with each spin. Weapons like swords, tridents, and maces, come in to slash symbols and turn symbols into wilds for better payouts. And the music takes players back to the drama of all-out physical battles in ancient Rome.

The 3×5 reel slot offers 20 paylines and an RTP of 96.4%.

How to Play Champions of Rome

This game is intriguing because many of the symbols resemble each other, unlike other games where symbols are distinctly different. The actions on screen also keep players glued to the spins to see what might happen next.

The scatters in Champions of Rome are the symbols that say “free spins.” When two appear, it doesn’t trigger the free spins but does launch a feature that sends the weapons to the screen to offer wilds.

Five free spin symbols offer an immediate bonus of 600x the bet. This then starts the bonus round with a mega win. However, only three free spin symbols are required to start that bonus round.

During free spins, four wilds are added to the reels on every spin. And they are clearly displayed when a weapon appears to bash four non-paying symbols into wilds. Furthermore, if the beast symbol appears during a free spin – a triangular-faced mask with an orange background – a weapon spears it and triggers an additional free spin.

Selecting the training mode during free spins allows the player to keep all of his or her winnings. On the other hand, choosing the deathmatch option risks it all to take a chance on hitting a 2x to 4x multiplier. For example, a player can choose eight spins in training mode at face value, seven spins at 2x, six spins at 3x, or five spins at 4x. Even during the deathmatch option, a loss allows the player to take a consolation prize or five training mode spins.

Players even have the choice, at any time during regular play, to bet 100x the bet and enter directly into free spins.

Where to Play Champions of Rome

Yggdrasil is proud of its latest release, and players at LeoVegas and Play Amo are some of the luckiest to see the game first.

LeoVegas offers a section on its home page called “Newest Games,” under which Champions of Rome is available. Play Amo players can click on the “New” icon to see the latest offerings or “Yggdrasil” to see games only from that developer.
