New Game of the Week: Contact

It is not difficult to find online casino games focusing on the Mayan culture.  Most probably due to a general fascination with the ancient civilization and its architecture, religious practices, and art. Contact maintains that focus, but in an entirely new and riveting way.

Play’n GO used its latest technology to develop Contact as a cascading grid slot game. Created in 3D, this game uses an angled camera view.

There have been a few games in its collection to use a similar design, such as Viking Runecraft. However, Contact combines the technology with a game theme which truly benefits from that type of detail. Mayan pyramids, artwork, and symbols allow for a combination that is already drawing new players to the online casino world.

Contact is a 5×7 grid slot with tumbling reels. Players will find three special features in the game: free spins, symbol upgrade, and block destroyer. Goals of the game include building clusters and increasing multipliers.

Released on March 28th, the uniqueness of Contact and its plethora of game action has since made it one of the most popular games in the online gaming sector this month.

About Contact

Nearly everything about Contact is different from most traditional online casino games.

There are five columns and seven rows on the grid. A spin involves the reels crumbling like rocks instead of spinning like typical reels. Paylines begin at the bottom, as symbol matching happens from the bottom up, increasing multipliers as more matching grids are attached.

The music gives an air of mystery to the game. It sounds like the soundtrack to an adventure movie at a point leading up to a big scene. It matches the lighting, which dims slightly off and on as the game continues, adding to the aura.

That music pairs well with the scene of a pyramid in a jungle, surrounding by other Mayan-style towers and temples. On the primary pyramid upon which the game plays, each tile contains symbols. Some of these have carvings of animals that might have been found on ancient walls. The more valuable symbols, however, are the Mayan masks in various colours, the purple one being the one with the highest payout possibility.

Players can compete on desktop online sites and on their mobile counterparts. The RTP is 96.55%. And the highest payout is 1517.5x the player’s total bet.

How to Play Contact

Players must match symbols in group of five or more to achieve a connected cluster, though they can touch horizontally or vertically. Upon finding a winning cluster, all non-winning tiles are dropped off the grid, and the cluster drops to the bottom of the grid. If new symbols then attach to that cluster, it keeps accumulating. But if no new attachments are made, the win is paid and the spin is over.

Payouts begin with a 2x multiplier for the bottom rows. As a cluster climbs higher, though, it can reach a 3x multiplier and then 4x. If the cluster reaches the top of the pyramid, the bonus round is triggered. If all tiles are filled for a cluster, a super bonus round ensues.

A bonus round begins with three free spins, though a super bonus round begins with six. Winning clusters remain on the grid throughout the bonus round spins.

During bonus rounds, the multiplier can increase to 5x or more. In addition, filling rows one, four, or seven will trigger a special feature.

One special feature is the block destroyer, which destroys one of the multiplier blocks and adds a new and higher one. A symbol upgrade feature advances the cluster symbol up one in value. And an extra free spin feature is just that – an extra free spin.

In the super bonus round, that block destroyer takes care of three blocks and can go as high as a 30x multiplier, and the extra spins garners three additional spins.

The game moves very quickly, as tiles fall rapidly to allow the player to move forward to add to a cluster or spin again.

Where to Play Contact

The rollout for Contact took place more than a week ago, and most online casinos are offering the game. Players can easily find it in the “new games” section of Play Amo, among many others.

The game is one of high variance, meaning that players can spin a number of times with no payouts. But when the wins happen, they can be substantial. Players may be hesitant to stick with Contact, but its unique qualities, graphics, and features are impressive and demonstrate the future of casino games online.
