New Game of the Week: Conan from NetEnt

The online casino game developers at NetEnt have been busy this summer, creating new online video slots that have more features and more striking animation than ever before. Out of this endeavor came Conan.

NetEnt is no stranger to branded games. Its library of titles includes ones like Jumanji, Planet of the Apes, and Narcos. Conan is the latest copyrighted brand to be added.

Bryan Upton, Director of Games at NetEnt, called Conan “a globally-loved brand and legendary central character.” He also noted, “We’ve stayed true to everything that has made Conan so popular over the last 50 years and added some true NetEnt touches and terrific twists.”

Who is Conan?

Conan was the barbarian. He sought justice and took it by any means necessary.

The original 1984 movie cast Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan, the boy left orphaned by evil forces that destroyed his home town, killed the rest of his family, and stole his father’s sword. Conan grew up and took the fight back to the source of the devastation and ultimately retrieved the sword.

The movie was remade for a 2011 release with Jason Momoa in the role of Conan.

Conan the Barbarian was originally a comic book hero, though, created in the 1930s. He has since been the subject of numerous books, films, television shows, board games, video games, and role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons.

And with NetEnt’s help, it is already a very popular online casino slot game.

About Conan

NetEnt created a massive 6-reel slot for Conan, complete with four rows and 24 bet lines.

The game is set in an abandoned town, much like the one destroyed when Conan lost everything. The cold wind blows, and the soundtrack is filled with many other sounds emanating eerily from the town.

Players can prepare to play with a coin value as low as $0.01, putting the minimum bet at $0.20. That coin value increases in small increments until it maxes out at $10.00, which creates a maximum bet of $200.00 per spin.

For action at the minimum bet level, these payouts show the value of hitting six symbols on a bet line:

  • Conan = $1.20
  • Thoth-Amon (Conan’s enemy) = $1.10
  • Valeria (Conan’s sidekick) = $1.00
  • Empty helmet = $0.70
  • Sword = $0.60
  • Grappling hook = $0.50
  • Gold lion = $0.30
  • Silver snake = $0.25
  • Bronze bird = $0.20

How to Play Conan At An Online Casino

Spin each time or use the autospin and start the action!

One thing to look for is the shield with “scatter” across it. That is the scatter, and three or more of them trigger the free spins.

Players also look for the wilds.

The Tower Wild is the W symbol with blue eyes, which substitutes for all symbols except scatters. This wild can appear on the first or second reels in the base game and expand to cover part of or all of that reel.

Then there is the Battle Wild has red eyes. It can appear on the fifth or sixth reel in the base game and expand up to three positions sideways on adjacent reels.

The mystery symbol is the hissing snake, which can appear on the third or fourth reels in the base game. They can be single or stacked and transform into any symbol except scatters or wilds. All mystery symbols that appear on one spin transform into the same symbol.

Should the mystery symbol stack an entire reel, it will activate the Mystery Multiplier feature. The multiplier can be 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, or 7x.

If a mystery symbol combines with a Tower Wild or Battle Wild, it activates the Thoth-Amon feature. This adds three, four, five, or six mystery symbols randomly added to reels two, three, four, or five on any position not covered by another mystery symbol, scatter, or wild.

Then there are the free spins. When they are triggered, players have three options.

First, the City of Thieves choice offers Tower Wilds potentially appearing on all reels and expanding up or down to dover reels. Second, the Temple of the Serpent free spins allow mystery symbols to stack on all reels and then activate the Mystery Multiplier. Finally, there is the Wall of Tarantia option that allow Battle Wild symbols to appear on all reels and expand up to three positions.
