New 2021 Microgaming Releases Offer Megaways and UltraWays

Leave it to Microgaming and its partners to start 2021 off in style. The globally-respected online gaming software company and game developer partnered with so many independent gaming studios that it is releasing a dozen new titles in January alone.

Canadian online casino players can look forward to a wide variety of new games from the arcade-style Incan Adventure to Shamrock Holmes Megaways, and from Golden Stallion Ultraways to Roulette x5. There is something for everyone!

  1. Incan Adventure Arcade (January 5)

One of the first new releases of 2021 is Incan Adventure Arcade, a fun combination of arcade game-style features with the payouts of a traditional online slot. This game comes from a relatively new partnership between Microgaming and Gacha Studios.

  • Max win: 2,880x
  • RTP: 96.25%
  • Volatility: high
  • Bets: $0.20 – $100

Incan Adventure Arcade

The basic goal is to use the drill to break blocks. Players can use the Auto Drill or Super Drill, the latter of which allows wins to be multiplied by 3x. The Power Block feature helps break extra blocks and transform them into higher-paying ones. Meanwhile, all of the action fills the statue to deliver a bonus.

Players should calculate moves carefully, as every move requires a bet. But the payoff can be lucrative with some patience and strategy.

  1. Shamrock Holmes (January 5)

Cross Sherlock Holmes with an Irish character for Shamrock Holmes, the latest release from All41 Studios. Microgaming’s steady stream of releases from this studio consistently present new characters and themes. This one is a light but exciting game that makes one want to do a jig.

  • 6 reels (2-7 rows)
  • Paylines: 117,649
  • Max win: 28,000x
  • RTP: 96.44%
  • Volatility: medium
  • Bets: $0.20 – $20

This is an action game, and its medium-volatility rating provides many opportunities for payouts. The Megaways feature gives players the chance for tens of thousands of betways, complete with features like the Respin, Scatter, Wild, and massive multipliers.

The Magic Forest Respins provide Megaways depending on the extra symbol that accompanies the three Scatters, with the pixie pulling 10,000 Megaways, Shamrock Holmes 32,400 Megaways, and both of those characters reaching the max. There are Rolling Reels to create new wins from the same spin. And the ten free spins start with a 2x multiplier but can increase exponentially.

  1. Whisker Jones (January 6)

Microgaming has teamed up with 1×2 Gaming in the past, but the partnership is relatively new. This product of that relationship provides a character-driven video slot, complete with a detective, a professor, and an Indiana-Jones-type cat. The three cats take players on a treasure-seeking journey.

  • 5 reels (3 rows)
  • Paylines: 10
  • Max win: 1,500x
  • RTP: 96.10%
  • Volatility: medium
  • Bets: $0.10 – $100

Whisker Jones

From the action soundtrack to the graphics, Whisker Jones feels like an adventure. There is the Wild, Transforming Wild, Scatter, and Bonus, the latter of which may transform into a Wild. Free spins may start with eight, 12, or 16, and more Scatter symbols during the bonus round can add up to eight additional spins each time.

Watch for the Bonus symbol, which is also the Transforming Wild, that can affect up to six symbols.

  1. The Bounty (January 7)

Snowborn Games is another one of the newer Microgaming partners, and the independent studio brought a big release in to kick off the new year. The Bounty is a tribute to the Wild West but with more vibrant colors and action symbols than its predecessors.

  • 5 reels (3 rows)
  • Paylines: 15
  • Max win: 5,000x
  • RTP: 96.08%
  • Volatility: medium
  • Bets: $0.15 – $45

The Wild in this game is outdone by the Double Wild, which pays 2x the payline. Players will find the largest win potential in the Bounty Jackpot, though there are five jackpots in total: Mini, Minor, Maxi, Major, and Grand. Multipliers can soar up to 4x. The Bounty Jackpot Bonus offers the Showdown via ten free spins with Golden Posters for extra chances to win.

The Ambush Bonus brings players to Old Chapel Hill, where they can ambush bandits during eight free spins and 2x multiplier action. Players can also add extra spins and multipliers during the bonus game.

  1. Foxpot (January 12)

Foxium and Microgaming bring players back to the good ol’ days of single-line slots, the origin of the nickname “one-armed bandits” for slot machines. The single line may not sound like much, but the features make this game quite exciting.

  • 3 reels (1 row)
  • Paylines: 1
  • Max win: 10,000x
  • RTP: 96.31%
  • Volatility: medium
  • Bets: $0.20 – $25

Players are immediately transported into a neon-colored casino, filled with lights and dollar signs. The fruit symbols are a nod to classic slot machines, but everything else uses top gaming technology. Players receive rewards for three-of-a-kind symbols per the chart on the right of the screen.

The features start with the Bonus Wheel, which award cash prizes and the potential for jackpot wins. There is the Mini, Midi, and Foxpot, the latter of which awards the max payout. There are multipliers up to 10x and wilds to kick up the action, and the Nudge feature helps give those reels the extra boost to hit a payline.

  1. Golden Stallion Ultraways (January 14)

Northern Lights Gaming presents its latest creation through Microgaming with a very special feature. While players are familiar with Megaways, they might not yet be familiar with Ultraways. This game features those special free spins along with an Old West theme focused on beautiful wild horses.

  • 5 reels (3 rows)
  • Paylines: 20
  • Max win: 6,000x
  • RTP: 96.20%
  • Volatility: high
  • Bets: $0.20 – $50

A player’s first spin determines the number on the sheriff’s badge for the Golden Spin. That is the number of spins needed (between 10 and 20) to get to the Golden Spin, at which point the game upgrades the saved symbols to a Golden symbol for a solid payday. The number of galloping horses determines the number of saved symbols.

The Bonus symbols take the player to the Horseshoe Bonus for three spins. If a horseshoe hits the proper position, it splits the position into two or four. That creates the Ultraways Free Spins, of which there can be 196,608 combinations. It all makes sense when the game begins, and the features create constant action.

  1. Bondi Break (January 18)

Lightning Box Games and Microgaming take players Down Under to the beaches of Australia for Bondi Break. Seeing as the studio is based in Sydney, it makes sense and takes players from around the world to the Aussie beaches during the height of the summer season.

  • 5 reels (3 rows)
  • Paylines: 25
  • Max win: 6,250x
  • RTP: 95.5%
  • Volatility: high
  • Bets: $0.25 – $40

Bondi Break

The surfers and lifeguards dictate the action, and the female bikini-clad characters (remember the 1990s?) are the Wilds. The Scatter is the key to the bonus round of at least 10 Free Spins, though extra spins are available during the Bonus. There is also a multiplier that can increase the win potential.

  1. Hyper Strike (January 19)

Gameburger Studios continues its long-running partnership with Microgaming into 2021 with a bright neon and techno-inspired game called Hyper Strike. The visuals and dance music keep players interested but the features keep them involved and wanting to spin again.

  • 5 reels (3 rows)
  • Paylines: 20
  • Max win: 2,000x
  • RTP: 96.24%
  • Volatility: medium
  • Bets: $0.20 – $20

There is a Wild alongside the classic fruit and slot machine symbols, but the Scatter is the key to bigger payouts. Three or more of the Scatter symbol takes the player into the bonus round for the Bonus Wheel spins. The wheel determines the number of free spins (up to 30) and the corresponding multipliers (up to 3x). It is also possible to retrigger for as many as 60 free spins.

The table to the left of the grid keeps players informed as to the potential wins for Hyper Strike symbols.

  1. 777 Mega Deluxe (January 21)

Another longtime partnership brings 777 Mega Deluxe from Crazy Tooth Studio through Microgaming. This one puts an entirely new face on the tradition triple-sevens game. The symbols are familiar, but the features are fresh and exciting.

  • 4 reels (7 rows)
  • Paylines: 127
  • Max win: 6,601x
  • RTP: 96.1%
  • Volatility: high
  • Bets: $0.20 – $30

The bright game offers multipliers and symbol payouts, but the primary feature is Respin Insanity. Any winning spin during the base game triggers Respin Insanity, in which the winning symbols and surrounding area deliver a respin. New matching symbols continue the respin.

The Scatter symbols trigger the Bonus Spins, with Scatters then transforming into multipliers of 2x or 5x. Those multipliers remain for the entirety of the bonus round, with new ones becoming sticky as well.

  1. Forgotten Island Megaways (January 26)

In a somewhat rare move for a smaller studio, All41 Studios will release a second new online slot through Microgaming in January. Forgotten Island is also a Megaways but one that takes players deep into the wilderness to find new features.

  • 6 reels (7 rows)
  • Paylines: 117,649
  • Max win: 7,000x
  • RTP: 96.25%
  • Volatility: high
  • Bets: $0.20 – $20

The gorilla that presides over the game welcomes – sort of – to the island with a vibrant background and matching soundtrack. The Rolling Reels feature is a player favorite in which the winning symbols from a spin disappear in favor of new ones that roll into place. It can easily lead to more wins from a single spin. There is also the random Kong Spin feature, which can offer multipliers of up to 10x. The Scatter can lead to at least ten free spins, and the multiplier and potential for more free spins add to the excitement.

The Buy feature in this game also allows players to buy directly into a Bonus round for a significant number of bets. It is a risky bet but one that action players appreciate.

  1. Animals of Africa (January 28)

This new release from Gold Coin Studios through Microgaming takes players to the depths of the jungle, this time in the Serengeti region of Africa. Animals of Africa, with its colorful background skyscapes, is a different take on a fan-favorite theme.

  • 5 reels (3 rows)
  • Paylines: 20
  • Max win: 8,000x
  • RTP: 96.18%
  • Volatility: high
  • Bets: $0.20 – $25

Animals of Africa

The Wild is a standard feature, as is the Scatter. The latter, though, can trigger of win of up to 20x the bet while also leading to the Bonus Round. Players begin that bonus with 12 free spins, complete with Expanding Wilds and Sticky Wilds.

From respins to free spins and wilds, Animals of Africa offers solid win potential, though the high volatility requires some player patience.

  1. Roulette x5 (January 28)

Only about six months ago, Golden Rock Studios released Roulette x2. It changed the way many players looked at online roulette and brought more players to the tables. That success prompted Golden Rock Studios to prepare Roulette x5 to release through Microgaming at the end of January.

  • Max win: 1,000x
  • Volatility: low
  • Bets: $0.10 – $100

Roulette x2 delivered key features to what had been a standard roulette game. It quickened the action with Fast Play chips and offered players the chance to double the payout on every roll of the dice. The latest x5 edition will offer a payout of 5x on any six of a kind. The Golden Rock Bonus is the dice roll after any winning spin and can multiply the total winnings.
