New Game of the Week: Legacy of Dead by Play’n GO

The first game to be released by a major online slot developer in 2020 is Legacy of Dead on January 2. Play’n GO couldn’t wait to launch its first game of the new year by taking players back to ancient Egypt.

First of 52

Legacy of Dead is the first of 52 new games on the calendar to be released in 2020.

Play’n GO touted 2019 as a successful year, one that set records for the number of new games released. And that only inspires Play’n GO to do even better in 2020.

CEO Johan Törnqvist said, “Legacy of Dead is the very first in a series of quality gaming releases that will further cement our status as one of the foremost suppliers in the industry, and we will bring slot entertainment to a whole new level this year.”

That is a big promise but one from a continuously growing and improving company.

About Legacy of Dead

Think back to the history books and the mythological times of ancient Egypt. This game is set there with an Egyptian king released from death and prepared to find power and riches.

The music sets the tone, with a bongo-based soundtrack filled with mystery, one perfectly paired with the inside of a pyramid. Fires burn from to highlight the walls full of hieroglyphics. And the reels are set with bright colors to contrast the dark orange background.

As a five-reel slot, Legacy of Dead offers three rows and up to 10 paylines. The game is set with very high volatility and a max win exposure of 500,000 (or 250,000 coins).

Payouts for Legacy of Dead

The paylines depend upon the number of lines being played in the game. For instance, the player can set the number of lines from one to 10. By choosing one line – one payline – play starts at just $0.01 per spin. However, to maximize the chances of winning, it is smart to keep the lines at 10. Then, if playing the minimum number of coins, the minimum bet is only $0.10.

The options for payouts are as follows:

  • Lines: 1-10
  • Coins: 1-5
  • Coin values: $0.01-$0.05, $0.10, $0.20, $0.50, $1.00, $2.00

This puts the max bet for Legacy of Dead at $100.00 per spin.

The payouts for the various symbols in the game are as follows for five on a payline:

  • Golden tomb (wild) = 5000x
  • Pharoah = 5000x
  • Dog-headed god (Anubis) = 1600x
  • Gold-headed god = 600x
  • Falcon (Horus) = 600x
  • A or K = 120x
  • Q, J, or 10 = 80x

How to Play Legacy of Dead

The golden tomb is the key to many features.

Of course, it serves as a wild, and it can substitute for any symbol. Three of them on a spin triggers a round of eight free spins.

During the bonus round, an expanding symbol is chosen at random and helps win more spins. If that expanding symbol appears on a reel, it expands, and the entire reel becomes that symbol and serves as a wild.

Also, if three of the golden tombs appear on a spin during the bonus round, the player receives an additional eight free spins with an additional expanding symbol, also chosen at random.

The huge wins take place when spins continue to accumulate and more expanding symbols add to the collection. This can happen all the way up to the maximum of nine symbols for a massive win.

After every payline win, the player can hit the “gamble” button and gamble the winnings. Choosing a color – red or black – correctly wins 2x the bet, and choosing a suit – spades, hearts, diamonds, or clubs – correctly pays 4x the bet. But choose wrong and the game resumes without that win. If the player wins the gamble, they can keep going up to five times.

Where to Play Legacy of Dead

Play’n GO games are available on Canadian online casinos like Playamo.

Legacy of Dead was only released on January 2, though, and the holidays are just coming to an end. There has been a lag time for some casinos to add the latest slot games, so it may be a few days into the year before this one is available.

Last Release: Wild Frames

The last new online slot of 2019 from Play’n GO was Wild Frames, one that has really caught on with players. The symbols harken back to old-style slot machines, but the features show off what the latest technology can do.

Some of the many features include regular wilds and random wilds, cascading and clustering symbols, shatters, transformations, and a charge meter. The game is quite busy and complicated, but that only means more excitement and ways to win. It is an extremely fun game to play.
