New Game of the Week: Hot Chilli

As Canadians wait out the summer heat in anticipation of beautiful autumn weather, they can spend some time indoors playing one of the hottest new slots to feature  at the best online casinos. That game is Hot Chilli from Pragmatic Play.

Hot Chilli is a very unique game, too. It’s a 3×3 game inside a hotpot, cooking all of the symbols into wins. The symbols are the ingredients, which mixed in with chillies, makes for one of the most innovative games to hit the online slot world in years.

The multipliers are subsequently key to winning in this hotpot. The maximum payout is a whopping 888.88 times the betting amount, representing a lucky number in most Asian cultures.

The release date of Hot Chilli was only August 8th. Nevertheless, the makers of longtime online slot favourites like Da Vinci’s Treasure and Mustang Gold have created another game that is already heating up the action at online casinos. As Pragmatic Play Chief Business Development Officer Yossi Barzely notes:

“With its fun take on the classic hotpot and an innovative approach to reel spins, the elegant gameplay and quirky setting really sets it apart in our portfolio as a fantastic slot title.”

About Hot Chilli

The 3-reel, 3-row slot game has 9 paylines.

Betting options are then located by hitting the plus or minus signs on either side of the autoplay button. Coins per line start at $0.01, as does the coin value, putting the total minimum bet at $0.09. Coins per line can be increased up to 10, with coin values going up to $0.03, $0.05, $0.10, $0.20, and maxed out at $0.50. That therefore puts the maximum total bet at $45.00. The max payout for the top payline is $25,000.

Three symbols on a payline at the minimum betting level are worth the following amounts:

  • Prawn = $1.00
  • Rolled meat = $0.75
  • Prawns and rolled meat = $0.50
  • Square meat = $0.30
  • Mushrooms = $0.20
  • Corn = $0.10
  • Corn and mushrooms and square meat = $0.05

Tofu is the only symbol that doesn’t need to be on a payline to pay. In fact, even one tofu showing up in the hotpot counts as a win. Needless to say, payouts are even greater for two or three tofu in the bowl.

The paytable for this game is subsequently posted on the left side of the reels. This by itself is very unique and lets players know what they will get paid for every combination of wins.

The hot chilli pepper is wild and substitutes for any symbols except the scare piece of tofu.

The space and enter buttons can also be used to spin the reels. And by holding the space bar, it transforms the spins into turbo mode.

Hot Chilli is set at a theoretical RTP (return-to-player) of 96.52%.

How to Play This Asian Themed Slot

The spin button puts the game into motion. Meanwhile, the credit balance can be seen before each bet, while the bet line shows how much is being wagered on each line.

When a payline hits, chopsticks come out to take those ingredients out of the hotpot and demonstrate the location of the payline.

The multipliers are the primary feature and appear with the chilli peppers. There are 2x, 3x, 4x, and 5x peppers, and several of them on one payline warrants the biggest wins.

Autoplay is available, too, and can be set to a certain number of spins. It can also be scheduled to stop if your cash decreases or increases by a set amount.

While there are a significant lack of features in Hot Chilli, the game itself is very entertaining. Especially as the multipliers are the slot’s primary attraction.

The Chinese music plays and syncs with the symbols appearing on each spin. Meanwhile, the background noise in the game is the sound of a boiling hotpot, mixed in with occasional sounds associated with a busy restaurant. Adorning the hotpot are beautiful gold dragons and lucky symbols.

Where to Play Hot Chilli

There is some volatility to this medium variance slot. Nevertheless, Hot Chilli is a captivating game which gives online players a fresh take on slot games. Leo Vegas and Play Amo are the biggest Canadian online casinos currently offering the game, with BetChan in on the action, too. All three sites also offer significant welcome bonuses for those players looking to open up a new account. So why not sign up and start playing Hot Chilli right away!
