New Game of the Week: Blood Moon Wilds by Yggdrasil

As Halloween approaches, Yggdrasil is ready to offer the newest seasonal game for Canadian online casinos.

Blood Moon Wilds is an admittedly dark video slot game, set in the bayou around New Orleans. And the setting is perfect for the humans that transform into werewolves under a full moon.

The features work with the lunar calendar above the reels to track the full moon and subsequent transformation into werewolves. Everything is connected to unique features and the upcoming Day of the Dead.

Yggdrasil Product Owner of Slots Natalya Ovchinnikova said Blood Moon Wilds was released in time for the Day of the Dead, which is celebrated the world over. “With its pulsating gameplay and chance of huge wins,” she said, “we’re confident it will exceed expectations and become a firm seasonal favorite.”

About Blood Moon Wilds

With five reels and three rows, Blood Moon Wilds offers 20 paylines. Its RTP (return-to-player) is 96.2%.

Each spot on the reels is shaped like a wooden door. The background presents a creepy, old setting, complete with fog and an entry gate to the village. Above the gate are some wolf statues guarding the gate and on either side of the lunar calendar with the different phases of the moon.

The soundtrack is spooky with a faint sound of people yelling in the distance. It is ideal for the game’s theme.

The lowest coin value is $0.005, which makes the minimum bet $0.10. The top coin value is $5.00, putting the max bet at $100.00. The maximum payout is 2000x the bet.

When playing at the lowest bet, the payouts for a line of five symbols are:

  • Red-haired woman = $5.00
  • One-eyed man = $3.00
  • Young child = $2.00
  • Blue-haired man = $1.20
  • Red heart = $0.65
  • Purple spade = $0.55
  • Green club = $0.45
  • Blue diamond = $0.35

How to Play Blood Moon Wilds

There are quite a few special features in this unique slot game.

The highest paying symbols – the villagers – can transform into werewolf wilds through the random feature or the blood moon feature. And they then substitute for all regular symbols.

These wilds have the ability to provide the biggest wins. They often turn wild randomly.

Players will want to pay attention to the lunar calendar above the reels. It displays the current moon phase in the game. It turns with each spin, and when the full moon appears, all villager symbols turn wild.

During the free spins mode, there are blood moons on the lunar calendar. When those hit, they also turn all of the villager symbols wild, but they then stay wild throughout the remainder of those free spins.

As for the free spins, they are triggered by the “free spins” symbol and award as follows:

  • 3 free spin symbols = 7 spins
  • 4 free spin symbols = 10 spins
  • 5 free spin symbols = 12 spins
  • 6 free spin symbols = 20 spins

During the bonus spins round, players can win more, as two of the symbols award two extra spins.

There are numerous random features, including wilds, full moons, free spin symbols, and a multiplier than can be as high as 5x for that spin. Players will know when a random feature is appearing, as the wolves above the reels turn red.

Where to Play Blood Moon Wilds

Some Canadian online casinos are preparing to put Blood Moon Wilds in their featured games sections as soon as it launches in the coming days.

The first casino to get it will be 888casino because the game was designed with GVC casinos in mind. Play Amo will also feature it.

Check Out Wolf Hunters

For fans of spooky games and casinos like 888, Play Amo, LeoVegas, and BetChan, there is another Yggdrasil slot game option.

Wolf Hunters was last year’s September release, in plenty of time for Halloween. Players are invited to join in the hunt for the werewolf and free the townspeople from terror.

The beast appears on the reels, and the hunters are tasked with attacking it. If the hunter wins, the symbol turns wild. Every new wild triggers a respin with sticky wilds, and there are three kinds of free spin modes. Hunters even have special skills to be used in some of the bonus rounds.

Even More Halloween-Themed Games

The same casinos mentioned above also have Halloween slot games ready for the season from other game developers. Some of those are:

  • Hot Hot Halloween (new)
  • Halloween Fever (new)
  • Spin & Spell (new)
  • Spinoween (new)
  • Happy Halloween
  • Halloween Witch
  • Halloween Jack
  • The Ghost Walks
  • Halloween Horrors
  • Halloween Fortune
  • Ghost Pirates
  • Ghosts ‘N’ Gold

Players wanting a bit more Halloween slot game fun can look to online casinos like Jackpot City, Spin Casino, and All Slots for these haunting titles:

  • Halloween
  • Halloweenies
  • Golden Ghouls
