The opening weekend for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice thought to have grossed in a whopping $166 Million in North America and an Additional $254 million from across the globe.
Batman V Superman Breaking Records
With kind of estimates recorded for an opening weekend, the film has definitely broken all the records it possibly could. However, after the official opening weekend gross figures came in, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is not actually the highest grossing Warner Bros Film. This honor still belongs to the 2011 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which brought in $169.2 million in its opening weekend.
Despite not breaking all records, this is one of the largest International rollouts in Hollywood history. The Warner Bros film was released simultaneously onto approximately 50 000 screens across 67 countries.
One record, it did manage to break was the opening records for a March, Easter weekend, and for 2016 thus far. Reasons for the movie falling short for breaking more records was mainly due to the timing of the release, and the fact it was Easter Sunday.
The real test for Warner Bros lies ahead as the real success of the movie lies in the hands of fans. Repeat visits to the cinema to see Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and attendance by moviegoers who wait for the hype to calm will contribute to the overall success of the movie.
