Playtech & LeoVegas Among 2018 EGR Award Winners

LeoVegas is again a nominee at the 2018 EGR awards.

Each year, EGR (eGaming Review) hosts an awards ceremony honouring the best online casinos, and professionals involved in the industry. Let us find out more about the 2018 EGR Awards, and who was acknowledged as being the best in their respective fields.

EGR Background

EGR has long been a leader in the online gaming world. As a major provider of news and analysis, the company also serves the gaming community across a range of different areas. This includes acting as a networking group, market researcher, news publisher, compliance advisor, and technology provider. Therefore, awards from EGR are honours that companies put on their front pages for all to see.

The EGR Operators Awards, Marketing & Innovation Awards, and B2B Awards are the most popular categories each year, as each covers a wide range of services for players throughout the world. Others focus on specific countries and regions. Naturally, the North America Awards are of particular interest to sites that focus on Canadian players.

2018 EGR Awards: North America

This ceremony’s nomination period ran from February 2018 to May 2018. On June 26, it was then held in Pennsylvania, USA, but welcomed industry members and representatives from across North America.

NetEnt, a premium gaming solutions providers and developer, won the coveted award for Casino Content Supplier of 2018. Many of your favourite online casinos offer NetEnt games, like Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest and the Wild Bazaar online slot.

In addition, the Casino Platform Supplier award was won by SG Digital, a company used by some of today’s top internet casino operators.

2018 EGR Awards: EGR Marketing & Innovation

Earlier this year, EGR took to the Hurlingham Club in London to honour the global gaming industry’s most innovative and creative operators. Fans provided their nomination from February through mid-April 2018, with the awards ceremony held on June 20.

In the end, LeoVegas emerged as a massive winner. It won awards for Brand of the Year, Affiliate Marketing Campaign, and Innovation in Mobile and Tablet. LeoVegas Casino is hugely popular with Canadian slots players. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the operator earned such respect.

LeoVegas Group CEO noted after the ceremony, “Winning ‘Brand of the Year’ is proof that we are constantly working towards our vision – ‘Leading the Way into the Mobile Future’ – and solidifies LeoVegas as a serious company that is here to stay. I am very proud of this award. It gives us further drive to continue to evolve and improve our brand.”

2018 EGR Awards: B2B

This set of awards is special to the igaming industry as it focuses on what businesses mean to other businesses. It focuses on service providers but includes aspects of the industry ranging from gaming software to payment processing. The nominations process was open from the end of February 2018 to the end of April. In June, the awards ceremony then took place in London.

Some of the major winners included the aforementioned NetEnt, which won for Innovation in Mobile. Meanwhile, Play’n GO took the award for Slot Provider, Evolution Gaming for Multi-Channel Supplier, and Red Tiger Gaming for Mobile Supplier. The Platform of the Year award, however, went to Playtech, a company that also won an award for Poker Software.

Playtech commented on the “prestigious” awards, noting that the Platform of the Year is key awards at the B2B ceremony. According to the firm, it highlights “the power of a gaming platform to deliver innovation, commercial growth and flexibility, as well as supporting key compliance and responsible gambling initiatives.”

2018 EGR Awards: Operator Awards

In late October, the Grosvenor House Hotel in London played host to the most recent ceremony. Honouring online gaming industry operators, the EGR Operator Awards have become enormously popular within the industry. It regularly attracts more than 800 professionals to its festivities, and this year even hired world-renowned accounting agency Deloitte to monitor the voting process.  The organizer accepted nominations from June 18 to August 31, 2018.

GVC, parent company of partypoker, captured several key awards like Casino Operator, Poker Operator, and Operator of the Year. There was, however, an interesting standout honouree. The Game of the Year award went to Evolution Gaming for its Lightning Roulette. It’s one of the hottest live dealer casino games of the past few years. This specialty online roulette option is played on some of the casinos we recommend, like LeoVegas and Casumo, among many others.
