Ismenia Marisol
Empowering women for financial independence
|
|
Ismenia Marisol is 19 years old and lives in her own house in El Salvador with her common-law husband and young nephew who is at school. The economy of El Salvador is not without its challenges. A fundamental struggle for most would-be entrepreneurs is the slew of natural disasters that plague the country, earthquakes and hurricanes in particular. The government is continually looking for new ways to encourage economic activity, especially via SMMEs and free-market initiatives.
Ismenia epitomizes the kinds of initiatives that can make El Salvador successful. She makes and sells delicious and varied pupusas (stuffed tortillas) with cheese, beans, pork cracklings, or mixed (combining everything). Tasty!
Ismenia’s business mind goes beyond just food, however. She has a lot of business ideas that she wants to put into motion and although she is relatively young, Ismenia has set out some far-reaching goals for her life. She is committed to reaching these goals, to creating a better life for her and her family. Already, Ismenia is becoming something of a local favorite in the area, where many people prefer her business thanks to her natural charisma and clear commitment to hard work (and delicious food).
She has decided to expand in order to attract more customers. Therefore, Ismenia is requesting a loan to buy the ingredients she needs (corn, rice, pork cracklings, beans, cheese, tomatoes, etc.) to make the delicious pupusas she prepares with love every day.
Maple supports those who seek to support themselves. We admire Ismenia’s fortitude and resolve in making her business work. Rest assured: we use our casino profits strategically, empowering those who need it most. |
