Your strategy in playing a successful Blackjack game can also depend on whether the house rules of the game allow for a Hard or a Soft 17 –this is when an Ace card is considered to denote a value of either 1 or 11 when occurring with one or more cards in a hand which equal the value of 6, thus making the total value of the hand equal to either 7 or 17. If the rules of the house state that the dealer must stand on a Soft 17, this means that the dealer may not draw any more cards, which gives you a higher strategic advantage than if the dealer hits a Soft 17, and draws a card that may potentially complete the total value of his hand to 21, and thus winning the game and giving the house an advantage of 0.02%.
