Ten Things To Remember At The Baccarat Table

Point 1

Baccarat offers three options for betting: the player hand, the banker hand, and the tie. The banker's and player's hand offer almost similar house edge and betting on either can bring similar winnings.

Point 2

The house edge on the player hand is 1.24%, whereas the on a banker hand it’s 1.09%. This doesn’t mean, however, that you should only ever play the former. Casinos level this advantage by charging a 5% commission on any win related to the banker hand.

Point 3

The only hand that can beat a Natural eight is a Natural nine. A Natural nine is the single best hand in baccarat and nothing can beat it.

Point 4

There is no pre-determined pattern for the outcomes of any baccarat game. It is a game of chance and you cannot bet on any eventuality as a certainty. Be wary of any and all resources out there that tell you different.

Point 5

Before play begins, the dealer will burn through the number of cards signified by the first card of the shoe. So, for instance, if the opening card is an 8, then the dealer will burn through eight cards before commencing play. The player hand will receive the first and third dealt cards, while banker will receive the second and fourth dealt cards.

Point 6

There are normally eight decks of cards in a game of baccarat. But bear in mind that you have a better advantage of winning via the banker hand if the game is played with fewer decks.

Point 7

A bet on a tie pays very well, but the chances of a successful wager are fairly slim. The house tends to have about a 14% advantage on tie bets. The payout, however, is 8 to 1, or 9 to 1 depending on how generous the casino is. You’re probably better of only wagering on a tie bet if the payout odds are to your favor.

Point 8

There is little advantage to employing card counting techniques. Compared to blackjack, where you can derive a few substantial advantage percentage points through good technique, baccarat card counting has been shown to be as much as nine times less effective. For some, this might even provide something of a comfort – knowing that your reliance is on luck and not enrichment through painstaking study. Every player at the table has an equal chance.

Point 9

Look for low commission tables. The lower the commission, the better it is for your bankroll. We mentioned that the house takes a 5% cut on banker plays, but many casinos are flexible on this point in order to encourage patronage.

Point 10

Make sure that understand the rules, procedures and systems of baccarat play so that if, on the off chance that the dealer makes an error, you can correct him in full knowledge of how the games operates. The bottom line? Do not stake your money on a game where you’re unfamiliar with the basics. That’s courting disaster and financial ruin. Ignorance never made a man rich.
